Hi everyone!

My twins are 5.  Edited March 2012......

Reena (the girl) is about 80% potty trained (and has been for months-- she's hit a plateau-- she's TIME trained--- but won't self initiate at all, or poop in the potty.  she simply pees on the potty when I tell her to.).  Chananiah (the boy) is finally trained--- it happened the week he turned 5!  WOO HOO!  Self initiation AND poop.  Accidents?  sure--- but not too many!

Chananiah has classic autism and SPD.  Reena has pdd-nos, adhd, SPD, hypotonia, and a classic case of stubborn 5 year old GIRL.

Chananiah is in an autism unit and Reena is in an integrated class (half neurotypical peers--- she's social, though inappropriately so).

Chananiah is severely hyperlexic and is MUCH better friends with numbers and letters than with children.

Reena tried clonidine and is currently on tenex (not working!)  Chananiah is on abilify and it seems to be helping a bit.

I look forward to learning lots from all of you!

I guess sometimes I am not sure how I do it but you have no choice so you just do it. All the interventions we did when they were younger have paid off.   I was going to say it got better when they became more independent, and it did, but now we are dealing with puberty which has been a challenge. I recently read that a family had 6 kids with 5 who have Autism. I am grateful I only have 3.

Hello, Heather -- it's nice to meet you too. It sounds like you really have your hands full with your twins!

We used to be east-siders (lived in Lyndhurst) and boy to I miss that side of town. Looking forward to seeing you around in the bloggy-verse and happy holidays!
