Again Thank you Doreen! This website is actually very similiar to something I have been wanting to start myself. Thank you for your encouregement, and am available via skype as well as by phone. I actually just installed skype so Ricki-Lee can catch up with some of her friends from Veriety Club Camp. Actually I am not even sure how to use it yet...hahaha, so maybe we should stick to the phone. I would also be more than happy to meet the parent you are referring to. Please feel free to give her my e-mail address and we can start there. Please ask for her to entilitle the subject box with parent or something as I will not open something from someone I do not recognize.I will give you my phone number in a private e-mail. The e-mails that I recieve as alerts to your post are as I am sure you know... no-reply. I also notied that you ask about book publishings, this is something that I have been talking about for years, just never knew where to start, so I look forward to any advice I can get. I look forward to talking with you further.
Belssings to you and your family this holiday season.
Jenn
Hi Doreen,
Yes the IEP for moms caught my eye. I have twin daughters age 17 years that suffer from Cerebral Palsy. They are both confined to wheelchairs. One daughter (Ricki-Lee) is a quadrapalegic, with the CP affecting all 4 limbs. She has endured various medical challenges and unfortunaley about 5 years ago it became apparent that we could no longer meet all of her medical needs at home on a 24 hour 7 day a week basis (The last 17 years has really taken it's toll on me physically as well as mentally). As a result we had to allow her to reside in a pediactric medical facility. I am very lucky though I am able to bring her home every weekend. My other daughter Jessica is considered a Tri-Palegic with CP affecting both legs and one arm. She is a senior in high school and has taken the frustrations of her disibility and thrown herself into school. She will be graduating at the top of her class this year and will be attending community college this fall to begin her education in medicine. She plans to attend medical school to become a pediatrician. I am looking forward to getting to know you as well as meet others within this internet community you have begun. I assist many families in my area (NJ) with resources and supports for parents of children with special needs. I will be graduating from college this spring a few weeks after my daughter graduates high school. I have chosen a career in criminal justice as I was a paralegal before I became a mom of two children with special needs. Although much of my experience is dealing with special needs children I wanted to take my career in a different direction. I hope I can be of some help to others as well as find support from others. Again I look forward to getting to know you.
Thank You,
Jenn
