where parents of kids with special needs connect
Welcome, welcome, welcome!
If this is your first time here, and nervous about jumping right in, there are several things you can do to get started:
Put together your profile page. At your profile you can add a profile photo of yourself, create an "about me" section to introduce yourself, add pictures of your kids either as a comment on your profile or in a blog post, or even add widgets. If you already have a blog, you can add its RSS feed on your profile's sidebar. Have fun customizing your online home.
Introduce yourself on the forum. If you don't know what to say, this is a good opportunity to put those 5 W's you learned in school to work! Tell us who you are, what brought you here (our website, a link on a blog, invitation from a friend, etc.), when you found out you were a parent of a child with special needs, where you live (generally), why you joined the community.
Reply to a forum introduction. A great way to start connections here would be to look through some of the introductions and reply to parents with whom you have something in common.
Find a
group to join or add a new
group. You can use the groups section to connect with others
sharing similar experiences.
Read the Code of Conduct. We've put together some guidelines so that we can accomplish our goal here -- to provide support to one another. We want this community to be a safe haven for us to express ourselves, find help and help others. Our Code of Conduct lays out the ground rules for that.
Please check out the site, and make yourself at home. We're looking forward to getting to know you.
