Hopeful Parents Community

where parents of kids with special needs connect

Hi there!

My gang is 8 and have repeated first grade. To make a long story short, I ended up quiting my job at thier school and deciding to homeschool them. They finally have just now been able to identify all of thier letters, and most sounds but they struggle to write them, they have a really hard time with sequence, etc......basically they don't have the basics down yet.  So I decide I am going to use K12 which is not considered homeschooling, it is considered a virtual academy. I am repeating first grade with them again. BUT......only my son who does not have an IEP got accepted.  I have appt.'s for them to get neuro-psych tested in January but until then I am trying to figure what is going to be the best fit for them for learning.

I feel like I have been in a twilight zone because of all the stuff that has happened in the recent months, this whole IEP process, and what I understand of it so far is, is mind-boggling.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for working with children that struggle with memory?
