where parents of kids with special needs connect

Hi, new here.  I am Cassie.  I have 3 children-Alex will be 5 in April, Aidan is 2 1/2, and Andrew is 18 mths(almost).  I often feel we aren't quite "special needs" because he will eventually be completely caught up with others.

Aidan was born with severe to profound hearing loss.  A type of hearing loss that hearing aids would not help him, Auditory Neuropathy.  We had him get a cochlear implant at age 1 for one ear and age 2 for the 2nd ear and now he hears wonderfully.  He is around an 18 mth age level for language(and that is being generous).  It has been a rough road with him that no one else quite gets.  He also has low tone that was just diagnosed and we are working to fix that.  He sees an ST 4 times a week and an OT once a week, we are very busy :)

Welcome! I'm new here too! Our little guy has profound hearing loss on one side and moderate/severe on the other. Due to Microtia, he has to wear a Bone Conduction hearing aid.
