Hi -

My name is Kara, and I have a 6-year-old son with SPD & ADHD, and a 3-year-old daughter. 

My son has had many struggles since he started school - his only truly successful year was in a self-contained pre-school program funded by our district. Kindergarten was awful, and first grade started out fine with an inclusion program in the morning and a small, self-contained program in the afternoon, but the month of December was very tough.  Lots of aggression toward other kids and teachers, and he is basically in isolation until they can get him stabilized.

His domain meeting for his three-year re-evaluation is coming up, and his sped teacher tipped me off that they're going to recommend screening for autism, specifically ASD/HFA.

Of course, concern for him dominates our lives, and it is great to find a community of understanding.
