Joy,
So sorry to hear your gut troubles with your little guy! Our little guys is 6 with Asperger's and extreme sensory issues. He has had gut issues on and off over the years. He had chronic diarrhea for 1.5 years from 18months until age 3 then it started again around age 4.5-5. Sounds like you've done a lot more testing than we ever did. We had some success from probiotics and we try to always give them during any course of antibiotics. For us the breakthrough came with removing all milk products from our guys diet and increasing his fiber. Crazy story - our son's adopted from South Africa. We took him to a well known specialist in our area and were surprised to find out he was South African. When he heard our story he told us our son's entire tribe is lactose intolerant and they eat significantly more fiber than an American diet. So he told us to go off all milk products and to start giving our guy Benefiber. That was our overall solution! At times our little guy will start holding his poop which wrecks havoc on his system. When that happens we give him Miralax for a while to make it too soft to hold. Blessings to you as you try to figure out what's going on!
Hi Joy,
Will has significant GI issues off and on. He has esophageal dysmotility and has had reflux off and on through his whole life. I read your blog post. We did lots of biomedical with him, and yeast was our biggest issue. Once we resolved it through a pretty strict diet - not SCD, but just yeast free, sugar free type stuff - and some supps, it was better. But he has some general GI issues with motility and I'm not sure the reflux will ever go away.
we have added ALoe juice to his regimen to soothe the inflammation, and are getting ready to do a round of Cytoflora (from Bioray), which we have high hopes for. So I'm thinking once we get his gut under control we'll see some shifting in the behaviors.
